Last saturday was the Bill Festival at Hangar.org, Poblenou, Barcelona. Bill Festival is organized by APIC (Professional Catalan's Illustrators Association) or something like that. They did conferences and other activities but I just passed by to the Mia Market, where you could find some illustrators selling their products.
A mi personalmente este tipo de mercadillos me encantan, pero sé lo duro que es estar allí entre 10 y 12 horas. Los mercados para un ilustrador, en general, son complicados ya que mucha gente se pasa por tu parada y miran tus láminas, tocan tus tazas, estuches o otros productos y se van llevándose una tarjeta de visita, pero, suele ser sin comprar nada. Seguramente habrá mercados que tendrán más afluencia y también más posibilidad de que te compren, pero en esos mercados es muy común que tengas que pagar por tu stand, así que tienes que vender mucho para que te salga a cuenta.

For me, this kind of markets are awesome, but I know how hard it's to be there for 10/12 hours. For the illustrators, being in markets is tough, in general, because a lot of people (like me) pass by your stand, look at your prints, touch your mugs, pencilcases or whatever you're selling and then left just taking your business card. It's probable that there's markets with more amount of visitors and more probability of selling products but to go to those markets you have to pay, so you have to sell a loooot to worth it.
El Mia Mercat era gratuito, lo cual me parece genial, sobretodo enfocado a ilustradores que nunca tendremos una vida muy de lujos. Allí visité a tres conocidas, Ana de Tijeras y Poemas, Núria Mochón y Viu de The House on the Moon. Las tres tienen estilos muy muy diferentes, pero a mi me encanta lo que hacen.

The Mia Market was free, so it's cool because illustrators won't ever have a luxury life. There I visited three girls, Ana from Tijeras y Poemas, Núria Mochón and Viu from The House on the Moon. They have really different styles but I like what they do.

Ana es la mente y las manos detrás de esta marca. Trabaja con collage, aplicándolo a diferentes productos. Tiene unos ideales muy fuertes, siendo respetuosa con animales, personas y medio ambiente. Sus collages son delicados, de colores pasteles y suelen representar esa simbiosis entre los humanos y el resto del mundo.

Ana is the mind behind this brand. She does collages, applying them to different products. She has strong ideals, being respectful with animals, persons and the environment. Her collages are delicate, with soft colors and she represents symbiosis between humans and the rest of the world.
Núria Mochón.
Núria es una crack de las acuarelas. No hay mucho que decir que no podáis ver vosotros mismos. Cómo representa los animales con manchas de acuarela me deja sin habla. Para mi es un arte el poder controlar de esta manera como se colocarán los pigmentos.
Well, Núria is a watercolor star. There's not much to say about her work that you can't see by yourselves. How she represents the animals with watercolor stains... I think is really difficult to control as she does the way the colors will blend or stay on one spot.

Viu y yo nos conocemos de la universidad. Como yo empezó estudiando diseño gráfico. La verdad es que tiene un estilo muy atractivo, los colores que utiliza me llaman mucho la atención, tiene incluso un toque de manga. También juega mucho con las texturas y le da un toque antiguo muy molón a lo que hace. Os animo a que miréis su instagram para descubrir todo lo que hace.
Viu and I met at the uni. She studied graphic design as I did. The truth is she has a really attractive and funny style, with vibrant colors and a manga-ish style. Also she plays a lot with texture making her illustration look a little bit old, which is really cool. I encourage you to take a look to her instagram.
